<< HUMAN CENTERED DESIGN PART 1 >>
OK the homework title was really intimidating. We had to put into practice what we learnt: Observing user behaviour and interviewing actual people to find out their latent needs. I will leave my script here but not the actual audio.
-START-
Hello, thank you for participating! I am Anna and I’d like to talk with you today about your public transportation experience. I’m interested in hearing your stories and experiences, with this, we hope we can make our transportation experience better for people like you. There are no right or wrong answers to any of the questions and please be as honest as you can. How does all that sound to you? Do you have any questions at this point?
First of all, can you tell us a little about yourself — Could you tell us your name and tell us a little bit about what you do?
- How often do you use public transportation?
- Can you tell me about a recent ride on a public bus or MRT you’ve had?
- What do you think about public transport in Singapore? What do you like about the public transportation system? What do you dislike about the public transportation system?
- What makes a good public transportation experience for you?
- Do you often use a mix of both the bus and MRT in a single journey from one destination to another? Do you use the bus or MRT more often? Which one do you prefer and why?
- If both the bus or MRT took the same time for the same distance. Which one would you use? How do you decide?
- Do you use the public transportation or taxi/ride-hailing apps more often?
- You mentioned that you use (method interviewee said). Is this always the same, or does it change? Why do you use it more?
- There have been many recent MRT breakdowns. Has that ever happened to you? If so, could you describe that experience. If it has not, what do you think you would do if that happened to you?
OK, final questions. Is there anything we haven’t talked about that you want to let me know?
Great, thank you for your time!
-END-
In the peer review, some people thought “There have been many recent MRT breakdowns” was a leading question. I think i should have replaced it with a broader “blue-sky” thinking question.
“What makes a good public transportation experience for you?” would’ve be a nice end off instead.
